Gorillaz Escape to Plastic Beach Tour 後記

如大多樂迷一樣，老早留意到 Gorillaz 的 world tour 路經香港。多年來由 blur 的《Parklife》到 Gorillaz 的第一張《demon days》追隨至今，難得 Damon 來港，又豈可錯過。不過最令我覺得這過演唱會非看不可的，倒是《金融時報》的 Richard Clayton 把 Escape to Plastic Beach Tour 給予五粒星滿分！和在 Youtube 看到 Gorillaz 在 Live On Letterman 的精彩演出，方知道 Gorillaz 的 tour 會是一個星光熠熠、包羅萬有的演唱會。

De La Soul　作為 supporting act 順理成章之餘，令我驚訝的是現時的 hip hop star 用「真功夫」在 turntable 上又捽又 rap 之後，是會掉下 turntable、打開 macbook pro 然後以卡拉OK式的手法，走到台前又跳又rap的，真是眼界大開。


Gorillaz 的 Escape to Plastic Beach Tour 正式由〈Orchestral Intro〉和 feature Snoop Dogg 的〈Welcome To The World of the Plastic Beach〉打開序幕。得強調，Gorillaz 的動畫已由二維的平面卡通「進化」成三維畫面再配上真人穿梭其中的故事式電影畫面，在演唱會強調「視」和「聽」的娛樂享受時，Gorillaz 的製作絕對有過之而無不及。自己本來就對《Plastic Beach》內的〈On Melancholy Hill〉尤其喜愛，所以當 Damon Albarn 背上木結他唱輕快的〈On Melancholy Hill〉時，加上背後有趣又幽默的 mv，令人感覺特別雀躍。另十分喜歡的就是來自《demon days》的〈Dirty Harry〉和〈Clint Eastwood〉，大概一眾 Gorillaz 的樂迷亦跟隨高唱"I need a gun to keep myself from harm和"I ain't happy, I'm feelin glad, I got sunshine in a bag, I'm useless, but not for long the future is comin' on"。

Little Dragon 隨團 Gorillaz 來港是驚喜之一，尤記得上年 Little Dragon 也曾在中環 Grappa's Cellar 有精彩的演出，意想不到今年她們竟然跟 Gorillaz 同台，跟 Damon 帶來迷幻和輕柔的化學作用。其後 Damon 帶來一隊來自中東的亞拉伯樂團和一首充滿異國風貌的曲目，緊接的就是〈White Flag〉，Damon 竟然那出一幟白色大旗團團轉，氣氛高漲。在尾聲時，Damon 亦帶來另一位來自四川的姑娘，以古箏伴奏 Damon 當年在香港寫的一首〈Hong Kong〉，背後的 video wall，則不斷播出，香港夜晚景色。

Gorillaz 的 Escape to Plastic Beach Tour 令人有喜出望外的感覺，如 Richard Clayton 所言 Gorillaz 如今以是一隊 multifarious band，不再只是幾段卡通加上「真人發聲」那麼簡單，其陣容之大，音樂取向之廣，代表了音樂主腦 Damon Albarn 音樂上的無比野心，同時亦為樂迷帶來無比「耳」福。

你的語言是你思考的局限嗎？

在國際先驅論壇報看到一遍有趣的文章，談及語言跟思考的局限。

世界各地有著不同的語言，不同的語言對同樣的事物會有不同的演譯。在英語世界，死物是沒有性別的，但在法語和德語，死物是可分為男和女的。有趣地，對於相同的死物，例如一座山，在德語和西班牙語又是不同的性別。華語跟英語對於時間的觀念有著跟本分別，這個很顯淺，因為中文是沒有 past tense 和 furture tense 的。看來不同的語言對相同的事物確有不同的演譯和表達，那麼，能不能說語言會局限思考？但我們可以用中文去理解西方的哲學和理論，不過，如果我們沒有看過那些譯本，使用中文思考可否發展出西方的哲學和理論？可能有點商榷，當然又要加上地理，人文，宗教，歷史等等的因素。

另一關於語言的部份亦甚有趣，原來有某種語族的人在概念上是沒有前後左右的，他們只有東南西北，因為他們天生在腦袋裡有天然的指南針，在大海也能自如地認“路”回岸。他會對你說：在你的北方有一雙螞蟻！城市人，不是睇風水，你抬頭一望，你知你的北面在那邊嗎？

不合格的 Oasis 歌迷（二 ）Cast No Shadow

那個下午很無聊．．．在 youtube 找 Keane 的新歌來聽，聽過新歌幾首，竟然發現 Keane 在 09 年的 V Festival 上 cover 了 Oasis 的＜Cast No Shadow＞。都說是一個不合格的 Oasis 歌迷，霎時之間想不起這首歌來自那張唱片的。因為一首＜Cast No Shadow＞又把《(What's the Story) Morning Glory?》拿出來再三回味，向來忽略歌詞的我，發現其實不知可謂 cast no shadow，又得再訪問 google。

在一藏大量 Oasis 訪問，名為 Oasis Interviews Archive 的網站，找來以下 Noel 在 1995 年為 NME 做的訪問，談論製作《(What's the Story) Morning Glory?》心路歷程，關於＜Cast No Shadow＞，Noel 如是說道 "It was inspired by Richard (Ashcroft) from The Verve. I sussed Richard wasn't very happy for a while so l wrote it for him and about three weeks later he quit. It's about songwriters in general who are desperately trying to say something. I'd like to be able to write really meaningful lyrics but I always end up talking about drugs or sex. People tend to ask my advice about a lot of things. I'm good at giving it but I'm shit at taking it. But people like Richard and Paul (Weller) will look after me they'll make sure I'm conscious in a chair or that I can get home."。

才知道 Noel 和 Richard Ashcroft 如此交情，怪不得＜Cast No Shadow＞帶來陣陣的無助感．．．再 dig 下去，更發現 Noel 在 05年為電影《Goal》重新灌錄＜Cast No Shadow＞並由 UNKLE 來監製 。十年人事，唱者成熟了，音樂上的處理不同了，再配上電影畫面，又是另一種感覺．．．
